At AppointLink Identity Workflow Solutions we provide a combination of services and products to help an organization measure and improve Identity and Access Management (IAM) compliance and efficiency. Our approach breaks IAM down into three areas: Policy Management, Access Inventory Management, and Provisioning/Audit.
The objective of Policy Management is to ensure an organization has a good framework for IAM policy, communicates that policy, and controls the policy over time. We implement this using SharePoint templates and integration between SP and SQL Server.
The objective of Access Inventory Management is to ensure that an organization has a single accurate inventory of all user access that has been or should be granted to organizational resources as well as a history of the basis for that access. This system is implemented in SQL Server and has one or more connectors to authoritative systems like SAP, PeopleSoft and a user interface that plugs into SharePoint for self service access requests, request approvals, and provisioning tasks. We also have a library of reports for audit, provisioning efficiency, resource usage, etc.
The objective of Provisioning/Audit is to ensure provisioning is efficient and actual access is accurate. The provisioning side pushes commands down to the connected systems (AD, eDirectory, LDAP, EPIC, etc.) using systems like MIIS, Novell NSure, LDAP, and others to enable user access. The Audit side collects actual provisioned information and feeds it back to the inventory for comparison against basis in order to determine risk in the system and enable cost reduction and efficiency improvement initiatives.
